After a standout fourth season under Shane Beamer, South Carolina announced a well-deserved contract extension for the head coach on Friday. The Gamecocks finished the regular season on a high note, winning six consecutive games, including notable upsets over Texas A&M and Clemson, to finish with a 9-4 record. While early losses to LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss kept them out of the College Football Playoff race, the team’s significant improvement from a five-win season in 2023 created a promising outlook for the program’s future. As a result, Beamer earned a contract extension that will keep him with the Gamecocks through the 2030 season.
Beamer, 47, will see a salary increase to $8.15 million for the 2025 season, with annual raises of $100,000 thereafter. Previously set to earn $6.65 million in 2024, this new deal places Beamer among the top 10 highest-paid SEC coaches. In a statement, Beamer expressed his gratitude, saying, “As I’ve said before, this is my dream job. My family and I love being here. We’ve accomplished a lot on and off the field over the past four years, but we’re not satisfied. There’s more to do and we’re just getting started.
Under Beamer’s leadership, South Carolina improved significantly after a rough two-season stretch under Will Muschamp, where the team only won six games combined. Beamer took over in 2021 following a three-year tenure at Oklahoma and led the Gamecocks to seven wins in his first season and eight wins in 2022. Despite a setback with a seven-loss season in 2023, the program’s progress has quieted any concerns, and Beamer’s vision for the future is on track.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Beamer and his coaching staff will return key players, including SEC Freshman of the Year quarterback LaNorris Sellers and Freshman All-American EDGE Dylan Stewart. Additionally, South Carolina has made significant moves in the transfer portal, securing 13 commits in the 2025 cycle, currently ranking 13th nationally according to 247Sports.
