Despite missing out on Roki Sasaki, the New York Yankees continued their aggressive international scouting by signing 16-year-old Dominican shortstop Mani Cedeño for $2.5 million. Ranked 11th by MLB Pipeline, Cedeño is considered a “potential five-tool player” and will begin his career in the Dominican Summer League. This move follows the Yankees’ previous international signings of Jasson Dominguez and Hans Montero. Cedeño, compared to Red Sox prospect Yoeilin Cespedes, hails from San Pedro de Marcoris, a region known for producing MLB talent.
