As for which SEC teams Kentucky won’t face, they will miss Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. While missing Mississippi State isn’t ideal, it’s certainly better than facing some of the other teams Kentucky will encounter. Not having to face powerhouses like Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M is a significant positive, and avoiding Missouri this year is a big bonus.
The Good:
Though Vanderbilt has improved, Kentucky still benefits from having them on the schedule over other teams like Oklahoma. Kentucky faces several tough teams, but the advantage is that Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Florida all have to come to Lexington. The first half of the season has just two road games, and the final stretch offers a strong opportunity to secure wins. Auburn and Florida may be tougher, but the last five games are winnable, including a chance to win on the road at South Carolina.
The Bad:
The middle portion of the schedule poses challenges. Starting with Toledo isn’t an easy win, and Kentucky needs to secure a victory over Ole Miss at home. Texas and Tennessee are tough opponents to face after Georgia, and the November trip to Auburn could be a critical moment in the season if Kentucky falls into a rut.
Best Case Scenario:
The Wildcats could start the season strong by beating Ole Miss and surprising South Carolina, kicking off the year at 4-0. A win against either Georgia, Texas, or Tennessee could set them up for a solid season. If Kentucky finishes November strong, they could head into bowl season with at least 4 wins in their last 5 games.
Worst Case Scenario:
A rough start could be devastating, with losses to Toledo and Ole Miss potentially leading to a 0-3 start. If things continue downhill, Kentucky could struggle throughout October and suffer a rivalry loss to Louisville, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated.
Season Prediction:
Kentucky should improve, but getting into a groove might be tough. The team could start the season 3-1 before facing challenges with Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee. However, a strong finish in November will likely help them reach bowl eligibility, securing their sixth victory against Vanderbilt. Expect updates to this prediction throughout the offseason.
