Breaking-News: Vikings’ Star Receiver Justin Jefferson Sends a Bold Message to Myles Garrett: Is a Trade to Minnesota Inevitable?

Myles Garrett made it clear that he wants a change of scenery after requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns. During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show at Super Bowl week, Garrett expressed, “I just want to go to a contender.

” Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson wasted no time in reaching out to Garrett, suggesting the Vikings could be the perfect fit for the former 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. “Myles, you know where to go, my brother,” Jefferson said. “We need one or two extra pieces, and you’ll fill that role. We need you.”

Jefferson’s pitch comes as the Vikings are facing a critical decision at quarterback, with high expectations for the team’s future. Whether they re-sign Sam Darnold or move forward with J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota will have plenty of cap space to make impactful moves. The Vikings currently have the seventh-most cap space in the NFL, with $53.2 million to play with, giving them flexibility to make significant additions through free agency or trade.

Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap estimated that a trade for Garrett, who turns 30 next season, would likely require a first-round pick. “Given the nature of the trade request, his age, and the likely extension that would come with it, I doubt the Browns would expect a huge haul of multiple first-round picks,” Fitzgerald said.

“They should certainly get one first-round pick, but after that, it’s probably a mid-round pick with some escalation conditions.” The Vikings hold the 24th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which could serve as the basis for a potential trade.

The Vikings have pursued top-tier defensive players in the past, including making Christian Wilkins a “priority” last offseason, though they were outbid by the Las Vegas Raiders. As a result, they signed edge rushers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, who both earned Pro Bowl honors in their first year with Minnesota. With three of their top interior linemen set to hit free agency, adding a premier defensive tackle could become a key focus for the Vikings this offseason.
