Greg McElroy, like countless college football fans, is curious about what the 2025 season will bring. With the transfer portal now a dominant force in college football, team dynamics are shifting more dramatically than ever before. A team can be dominant one year and struggle the next—or vice versa—thanks to the constant roster changes.
One notable transfer is Jackson Arnold, who has moved to Auburn after a tough season at Oklahoma. Auburn’s quarterback play was inconsistent last year, with turnovers being a major issue. One of their most painful losses came against Oklahoma, where a late defensive touchdown sealed a 27-21 victory for the Sooners. While some believe Arnold could be the answer for Auburn, McElroy isn’t convinced, suggesting that Arnold might still be recovering from the setbacks of last season.
“I think he’s damaged right now,” McElroy said on *McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning*. “No one can deny that. He was absolutely a damaged player last year, and it’s going to take some time for him to get back on track. We’ve seen this before, both in college and the NFL. It happens, and it won’t be the last time. Can he avoid the critical mistakes that could bench him again? I don’t know, and that’s what we’ll find out with Jackson Arnold.”
Auburn fans will get their first glimpse of Arnold in action during the team’s A-Day spring game on April 12.
