**Alex Bregman Joins the Boston Red Sox: A New Era Begins**
This offseason, the Boston Red Sox made a major splash by signing All-Star third baseman **Alex Bregman** to a three-year contract. While there’s a chance Bregman could move positions in 2025, his addition is expected to significantly strengthen the heart of Boston’s lineup. Bregman, one of the most sought-after free agents, had multiple offers but ultimately chose the Red Sox. On February 25, he shared his reasoning for joining the team.
*“If you look at the prospects in the minor leagues, the young talent in the big leagues, the veteran players, and the franchise players like Raffy (Devers) and Jarren (Duran), I think this organization is set up to win,”* Bregman said, as reported by *Boston Sports Gordo*. *“That was one of the main reasons why I wanted to come here.”*
Although Bregman has an opt-out clause after one season, his comments suggest he’s committed to seeing out his contract with Boston. The 30-year-old is a two-time American League All-Star and a key contributor to the Houston Astros’ two World Series championships.
**Bregman’s First Impressions of His New Team**
During a February 20 appearance on the *Section 10* podcast with Jared Carrabis, Bregman shared his thoughts on his new teammates.
*“You have franchise players like Rafael Devers and Jarren Duran—they’re just superstars, perennial All-Stars. Jarren is the man,”* Bregman said (31:37). *“Trevor (Story) is an All-Star too. He’s looking to showcase his skills and stay healthy this year. And when you look at the pitching staff, you can tell they’re focused on winning.”*
The Red Sox are banking on a big season from Bregman, but they’ll also need strong performances from their rising stars and veteran core to make a serious push in 2025. With Bregman’s leadership and talent, Boston’s future looks brighter than ever.
