Manager Aaron Boone recently shared an update on his team, highlighting a surprising player to keep an eye on this spring: left-handed pitcher Tyler Matzek.
“Matzek,” Boone said during an appearance on *Foul Territory* when asked about Yankees players to watch. “He looks a lot like the Tyler Matzek from a few years ago with the Atlanta Braves.”
The Yankees signed Matzek to a minor league deal in February, giving him a chance to prove himself and potentially make an impact this season. Boone’s comments suggest Matzek could be a sleeper pick to contribute to the Yankees’ bullpen or rotation as they aim for another championship push.
