South Carolina Gamecocks tight end Brady Hunt will miss the upcoming Cheez-It Citrus Bowl against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Head coach Shane Beamer confirmed Hunt’s absence during a pre-bowl press conference, stating, “Brady Hunt will not play tomorrow.”
Injury Details
Hunt, who joined the Gamecocks from Ball State, has been a key contributor to the offense this season.
However, he has been sidelined for the last two games of the regular season due to a lower leg injury, and will not be able to suit up for the bowl game either. His injury has left a noticeable gap in the tight end rotation, which also includes players Joshua Simon and Michael Smith.

Although losing Hunt is a significant blow, especially considering his role in both the passing game and as a blocker, South Carolina remains determined to perform well in the Citrus Bowl.
Coach Beamer expressed confidence in his team’s ability to adjust, saying, “Our guys want to be here,” emphasizing their focus and enthusiasm despite the setback.
Looking Ahead
With Hunt out, the Gamecocks will look to their remaining tight ends to step up and fill the void. Simon and Smith are expected to play crucial roles in the game, while the offensive strategy will likely shift to account for the absence of a key weapon.
The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl offers a chance for South Carolina to finish the season strong, and the coaching staff believes their players are ready to rise to the occasion. The team is focused on using this opportunity to end the season on a high note and showcase their resilience.
