**KANSAS CITY, Mo.** — Legends Field, the home stadium of the Kansas City Monarchs, is set to feature a brand-new synthetic turf playing surface for the 2025 season.
Construction on the upgraded field is scheduled to begin early next month and is expected to be completed by April 21, 2025, just in time for the Monarchs’ training camp. “This is a game-changer for Legends Field,” said Mark Brandmeyer, owner of the Kansas City Monarchs. “This investment ensures our players have a top-tier playing surface while also enabling us to host more events year-round. It’s a win for the Monarchs, our fans, and the entire Wyandotte County community.”
The Monarchs have partnered with Mammoth Sports Construction for the field renovation. While the new surface will cover 129,000 square feet, the natural pitcher’s mound will remain intact to provide pitchers with a better experience. The MMTH Turf surface, which is 1/75 inches thick, incorporates various types of turf tailored to different areas of the playing field.
The Monarchs will kick off their 2025 season on Friday, May 9, 2025, with a game against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
