The Tennessee Titans (2-6) secured a hard-earned overtime win over the New England Patriots (2-7) on Sunday, but the victory was quickly overshadowed by devastating injury news. The team received confirmation that center Lloyd Cushenberry likely suffered a season-ending torn Achilles.
In addition, safety Quandre Diggs, a three-time Pro Bowler, is also out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a Lisfranc injury while tackling Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas during the 20-17 win.
Diggs finishes the season with 42 combined tackles, but his injury means his campaign is cut short. At 32 years old in January and set to hit free agency, there’s a real possibility that this could be Diggs’ final game as a Titan.
Diggs, who spent the first nine years of his career with the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, joined the Titans in August after being released by Seattle in March. While his performance had declined, especially in coverage, Diggs still provided solid play against the run, and his absence will be a significant loss for Tennessee’s defense.
The injury woes don’t stop there for the Titans. Despite allowing the sixth-most points per game (26.6), the Titans’ defense has been surprisingly effective in terms of total yardage, ranking just behind the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, with Diggs now out and defensive back depth thinning, Tennessee’s defensive unit could take a hit. Additionally, offseason acquisition L’Jarius Sneed has been nursing a quadriceps injury, causing him to miss the last three games, further depleting their secondary.

While expectations for the Titans were low heading into the season, their struggles have been even more pronounced. Quarterback Will Levis has battled inconsistency and injury, the offensive line remains porous, and the team as a whole is lacking direction.
With the latest injury updates for Cushenberry and Diggs, fans are left feeling deflated as they wait for brighter days at Nissan Stadium. The Titans now have almost a week to regroup and address their growing concerns before heading to Los Angeles to face the Chargers on Sunday.
