Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cory Trice is still recovering from a hamstring injury. While sources say he is “close” to returning, he still needs to meet several key benchmarks before the team will activate his practice window.
One of these benchmarks is speed, which the team uses to gauge a player’s recovery after a hamstring injury. Trice has not yet reached all of these milestones, and until he does, the team remains cautious to avoid re-injury or further strain.
The Steelers are hopeful for Trice’s return, but the practice window won’t open until he meets the necessary criteria.
He will have the opportunity to hit those benchmarks as early as Tuesday, and once he does, the window will open the following day. The team is optimistic that Trice could be back on the field as soon as November 17 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Trice sustained the hamstring injury during the Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and he has been steadily progressing toward a return. While he’s close, it may still be another two to three weeks before he fully recovers and re-joins the team.
