BREAKING; JJ McCarthy on the Chopping Block: Vikings Set To Trade Top Rookie After Sam Darnold’s Stunning Rise!

Few anticipated that Sam Darnold would revive his career in 2024, including the Minnesota Vikings, who traded up to select JJ McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, with the Vikings now expected to extend Darnold, McCarthy’s future with the team is in question. Given the league-wide demand for quarterbacks, the Vikings are reportedly open to fielding trade offers for the young signal-caller, according to Adam Schefter.

While Minnesota hasn’t officially put McCarthy on the market, rumors suggest they are willing to listen to potential trade discussions for their prized rookie.

As Schefter noted, due to the limited depth of the quarterback class, many teams will likely inquire about McCarthy’s availability. Though the Vikings could insist that he’s not for sale, McCarthy was widely regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 draft before his injury.

McCarthy, who didn’t play during his rookie season due to a torn ACL, showed promise during the preseason and was highly regarded for leading Michigan to an undefeated national championship season in college.

Among the quarterbacks available for the 2025 NFL Draft, only Shedeur Sanders from Colorado and Cam Ward from Miami are considered top prospects. However, neither has garnered the kind of hype that would prompt teams to tank in hopes of landing them.
