BIG-NEWS: Vikings Make a Major Splash in Free Agency with Key Signings As They Agree To Deal With CB Byron Murphy

The Minnesota Vikings made several key moves on Monday, including finalizing a contract agreement with cornerback Byron Murphy Jr., marking a busy day for the team. While the details of Murphy’s deal were not immediately disclosed by the team, multiple reports indicate that he has agreed to a three-year, $66 million contract with the Vikings.

Earlier in the day, former Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly also reached an agreement with the Vikings on a two-year, $18 million contract, according to several reports. Additionally, cornerback Isaiah Rodgers left the Philadelphia Eagles, the reigning Super Bowl champions, to sign a two-year, $15 million contract with Minnesota, which includes $8 million guaranteed.

These contracts will become official on Wednesday, the first day of the 2025 league year.

Murphy, 27, was the Vikings’ top cornerback in 2024, racking up 81 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and six interceptions (tied for third in the NFL). He was targeted 119 times in pass coverage but limited opponents to a passer rating of 76.7.

Kelly, 31, is a four-time Pro Bowl center who missed 10 games over the past two seasons due to injuries. This led the Colts to hand the starting job to Tanor Bortolini, a 2024 fourth-round pick.

Rodgers, 27, finished his lone season with the Eagles with 26 tackles, four passes defended, and one forced fumble in 15 games, including three starts. In the postseason, he had six tackles, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown in the NFC divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams.

Rodgers was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Colts, and played three seasons with them before sitting out the 2023 season due to an NFL gambling policy violation. Over his four seasons and 60 games (13 starts), Rodgers has recorded 116 tackles, three interceptions, 14 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
