The Ohio State Buckeyes are sending a wave of talent to the 2025 NFL Draft, and quarterback Will Howard is among the standout names. After transferring from Kansas State, Howard made the most of his lone season with the Buckeyes, leading them to a national championship in 2024.
During his impressive campaign, Howard completed 73.1% of his passes for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also showcased his dual-threat ability, rushing for 226 yards and seven touchdowns. His stellar performance, particularly in the College Football Playoff, has significantly boosted his draft stock, though projections vary widely.
In a recent mock draft by Curt Popejoy of *Steelers Wire*, Howard is predicted to land with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round. Popejoy describes Howard as a “project player” with immense potential, noting his intelligence, confidence, ideal NFL frame, and exceptional athleticism.
Meanwhile, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has drawn an intriguing comparison for Howard, likening him to former NFL quarterback Blake Bortles. However, Zierlein also offered a word of caution, pointing out that Howard benefited from elite talent at Ohio State and may need to prove he can outthink NFL defenses to succeed at the next level.
Despite the skepticism, Howard is no stranger to proving doubters wrong. After silencing critics with his championship-winning season at Ohio State, he’ll be eager to show he has what it takes to excel in the NFL. Whether he lands in Pittsburgh or elsewhere, Howard’s journey will be one to watch as the 2025 draft approaches.
