The New York Giants have been busy bolstering their defense during free agency, bringing in key players like cornerback Paulson Adebo, safety Jevon Holland, defensive linemen Roy Robertson-Harris and Chauncey Golston, as well as adding depth at linebacker and edge rusher.
On the offensive side, however, the Giants have primarily re-signed familiar faces rather than adding major new talent for 2024. While they’ve added quarterback Jameis Winston, offensive tackles James Hudson III and Stone Forsythe, and wide receivers Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Zach Pascal, only Winston is expected to start, potentially in a bridge role.
Given this, Pro Football Network’s Ben Rolfe predicted the Giants will focus on offense in the 2025 NFL Draft, particularly with their first four picks, which could include a trade-up. The plan is to center their picks around quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Rolfe explained that the Giants’ current quarterback situation with Winston and Tommy DeVito leaves room for a future leader, and Sanders, while less flashy than Cam Ward, is seen as a safer bet to succeed in the NFL.
Next, Rolfe projected that the Giants would focus on strengthening the offensive line. In the second round, with the 34th overall pick, Rolfe has the Giants selecting guard Grey Zabel from North Dakota State. Zabel is praised for his versatility and is expected to settle at guard, addressing a key need for the team.
In a later round, Rolfe envisions the Giants trading up to No. 55 overall to grab Texas offensive tackle Cameron Williams. This move, trading the 65th pick and a 2026 third-rounder, would allow the Giants to secure a tackle with long-term potential. While Williams may have questions about his fit at left tackle, he could be a strong option to learn behind veteran Jermaine Eluemunor.
Lastly, Rolfe suggests the Giants will target a tight end, picking up Gunnar Helm from Texas at No. 99 in the third round. Helm’s well-rounded game, contributing both as a blocker and a receiver, would add competition to the tight end room, especially with second-year player Theo Johnson recovering from foot surgery.
This offensive-heavy draft approach could help the Giants reshape their future and provide the necessary support around a potential new quarterback.
