Shocking Move: Miami Star Guard Announces Plans to Enter Transfer Portal – Where Will He Go Next?

Miami senior guard Nijel Pack has announced plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after three seasons with the Hurricanes. Pack transferred to Miami following his sophomore year at Kansas State, signing one of the most lucrative NIL deals in college basketball, worth $800,000.

Pack is widely regarded as one of the top three-point shooters in the nation, boasting a career 40% shooting rate from beyond the arc on over six attempts per game. He enters the portal as a proven contributor, having been a key part of Miami’s 2023 Final Four run, where he was the fourth-leading scorer.

His first season in Coral Gables was highly successful, with Pack playing a significant role in Miami’s historic Final Four appearance. During the postseason, he averaged 16.4 points per game while shooting 42.6% from three.

However, Pack’s second season was hindered by a lingering lower-body injury that kept him from performing at his best. Fans hoped the 2024-2025 season would mark a bounce-back year, but after just nine games, Pack suffered another lower-body injury, which required him to wear a walking boot for the rest of the season. Shortly after his injury, longtime head coach Jim Larrañaga retired, and Miami’s season took a downward turn, ending with one of their worst records in recent years, winning only seven games.

Now, Pack is seeking a medical redshirt and plans to enter the transfer portal as one of the most highly sought-after players, offering a veteran presence and elite shooting ability to a playoff-contending team.
