The New York Yankees have taken the league by storm in opening week, shattering home run records left and right. In just their second game of the season, they charged to an early lead, powered by some innovative new bats, and secured a dominant 20-9 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The first three batters all hit home runs on the first three pitches thrown by their former teammate, Nestor Cortes. The Yankees ended the game with nine home runs in total. But they weren’t done yet—just a day later, they sealed another blowout victory, winning 12-3 in the final game of the three-game series.
Amid their hot start, the MLB shared a historic milestone for the Yankees: “With 17 home runs, the Yankees break the MLB record for the most through a team’s first four games, surpassing the previous record of 16 set by the 2006 Tigers,” the league posted.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their excitement, with one saying, “They’re making history!” Another fan remarked, “Wow, that’s impressive! The Yankees are on fire this season, breaking records already.” One fan even boldly declared, “We’re winning the World Series.”
Aaron Judge, fresh off his second MVP season, is having a historic start himself, tying Alex Rodriguez for the most 3-homer games in Yankees history (3).
So far this season, he’s posted four home runs with a .545 batting average a league-leading 11 RBI’s. Other players like Jazz Chisholm Jr., Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells and newly acquired Cody Bellinger have filled in perfectly for the massive hole left by the departure of Juan Soto to the New York Mets.
