Yankees Exposed! Brutal Stat Makes Diamondbacks Loss Even More Embarrassing

After a dominant three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers to open their 2025 MLB season, the New York Yankees have hit a roadblock against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Following a 4-3 loss on Wednesday night, the Yankees are now on the brink of being swept in their interleague series at Yankee Stadium.

New York’s offense struggled significantly, managing only six hits in 34 at-bats while striking out 16 times. According to Talkin’ Yanks, the Yankees didn’t strike out that many times in a single game throughout the entire 2024 season. Their highest strikeout total last year was 15, which came against the Seattle Mariners on September 18. They also had five games with 14 strikeouts.

Arizona ace Zach Gallen was nearly untouchable, setting a career high with 13 strikeouts while surrendering no earned runs and just three hits over 6.2 innings. Yankees manager Aaron Boone acknowledged Gallen’s dominance, stating, “He was really dealing” (via YES Network).

Aaron Judge, Jasson Domínguez, and Ben Rice each struck out three times, while Paul Goldschmidt and Oswaldo Cabrera went down on strikes twice. The Yankees will try to avoid the sweep on Thursday night with Carlos Carrasco set to face off against Arizona’s Merrill Kelly.
