The Minnesota Vikings are in a solid position as they head into the 2025 NFL Draft, with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah working diligently to provide head coach Kevin O’Connell the necessary tools for another NFC North title push. While there’s still plenty of work to be done, the team has just four draft picks, and Adofo-Mensah might look to trade down to gain more assets.
With limited draft capital, making the most of their picks is crucial. The Vikings’ strong roster gives them some flexibility, but an NFL analyst suggests an ideal draft scenario that could address an overlooked defensive issue—one that hasn’t gotten much attention.
Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus believes that Michigan nose tackle Kenneth Grant would be the perfect choice at No. 24 if he falls that far. Grant is seen as the ideal long-term replacement for Harrison Phillips, whose production slipped last season. Phillips is at risk of becoming a salary-cap casualty by 2026 if his performance doesn’t improve.
While the Vikings have bolstered their 5-technique position by signing Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen, they still need improvement at nose tackle. Phillips has struggled with subpar grades in back-to-back seasons, and Grant, who stands out for his unique combination of quickness and power, could provide a significant boost. As the top nose tackle prospect in the class, Grant excels as both a pass rusher and run defender.
Grant’s physicality, explosiveness, and disruptive nature make him a standout, and his ability to block passes at the line adds another layer to his game. Once he refines his technique and learns to leverage his strength, he could become an exceptional player. Landing with the Vikings would provide him the opportunity to develop under seasoned veterans, positioning him to play an important role.
With so few picks, Adofo-Mensah’s strategy in the draft will be crucial for keeping pace with the Detroit Lions. If the Vikings choose Grant, it would likely be a decision that fans would wholeheartedly support.
