Aaron Judge made history on Thursday night, becoming the third-fastest New York Yankees player to reach 500 extra-base hits. He achieved this milestone with a three-run homer in the first inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The only Yankees players to reach the mark faster than Judge are legends Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig.
Judge crushed a 1-1 fastball from Merrill Kelly to the opposite field, sending it into the Yankees’ bullpen for a 3-0 lead. It was a moment that highlighted Judge’s power, showcasing why he’s considered one of the best hitters in the game today.
Not stopping there, Judge added a run-scoring single in the fourth inning to extend the Yankees’ lead to 7-3. He’s been on fire this season, with five homers and 15 RBIs in just six games, further cementing his place as a key offensive force for the team.
Through 999 games, Judge has amassed an impressive 320 homers, 175 doubles, and five triples. His consistent ability to produce extra-base hits has placed him in rare company among Yankees greats.
For context, DiMaggio reached 500 extra-base hits in 853 games, while Gehrig did so in 869 games. Judge now stands among the elite, with Bob Meusel, Robinson Cano, and Mickey Mantle rounding out the list of Yankees players who reached the milestone in over 1,000 games.
