Vikings’ Bold Move: Grading the Massive Trade to Add Tyreek Hill from the Dolphins!

A few days ago, TikTok user Joe Bonham posted a video featuring Miami Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill revealing that he grew up a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings. This isn’t the first time Hill has expressed his love for the Vikings—back in 2022, he even stated he would play for Minnesota if he had the chance to choose any NFL team.

As Hill’s name continues to surface in trade rumors this year, both from his own comments and others speculating on his future, it’s worth considering whether the Vikings could make his childhood dream a reality by pulling off a trade before next season.

In the trade proposal outlined, some may wonder why no picks from the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft were included. The reason is that for Miami to clear significant cap space by trading Hill, the deal would have to happen after June 1st. Trading him before that date would leave the Dolphins with a dead cap hit of over $28 million and an additional $598,750 loss on their 2025 salary cap. However, if the Dolphins trade Hill post-June 1st, they’d free up nearly $15 million in cap space and only incur a $12.7 million dead cap hit for this year.

So, the proposal suggests that Minnesota makes its move after June 1st, offering wide receiver Jordan Addison and a 2026 second-round pick to Miami in exchange for Hill and a 2026 third-round pick.

With the already impressive receiving duo of Addison and Justin Jefferson, adding Hill would create an explosive offensive weapon for Minnesota. Imagine the nightmare for opposing defenses with Jefferson and Hill lined up together—it would be nearly impossible to cover both. This move would also make life much easier for J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota’s new starting quarterback, in his rookie season.

Hill helped elevate Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs during Mahomes’s first year as starting quarterback in 2018—could Hill do the same for McCarthy and the Vikings in 2025?
