Shocking NFL Power Rankings Reveal Vikings as Top-10 Team Before the Draft—Here’s Why

The NFL offseason is mostly in the books, and that means it’s time for a fresh wave of power rankings. TouchdownWire’s Jarrett Bailey recently evaluated all 32 teams based on their free agency moves and trades, and the Minnesota Vikings came in at a solid No. 9. While a 14-3 record might suggest they deserve to be ranked higher, a few lingering uncertainties are keeping them from climbing further.

Bailey explained the ranking by saying, “I’m not sure how good J.J. McCarthy will be, but I do know Kevin O’Connell is a top-five coach. Based on what he got out of Sam Darnold, as long as McCarthy isn’t Nate Peterman, the Vikings will be just fine.”

McCarthy’s performance will be the deciding factor for Minnesota’s success in 2025 and beyond. The roster is clearly built to contend right now—that’s not in question. What is up in the air is whether the rookie can provide an upgrade over Darnold. One thing’s certain: he’s stepping into a role with high expectations.
