HOT-NEWS: Bruins in Crisis Mode: Two Key Injuries Cast Doubt on Playoff Hopes – Will They Return in Time?

The Boston Bruins have been without Charlie McAvoy and Mark Kastelic for several weeks, and it’s uncertain if either will return before the end of the regular season.

Both McAvoy and Kastelic practiced in regular jerseys on Wednesday, but interim coach Joe Sacco mentioned there is still no set timeline for their return.

McAvoy has been recovering from a serious AC joint injury and an infection in his shoulder, which led to a three-night hospital stay during the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off.

Kastelic, meanwhile, returned to Boston last month during the Bruins’ road trip out west due to an upper-body injury. The forward had been a strong contributor on the fourth line, with career highs of five goals and nine assists, plus a tough-guy mentality with his willingness to fight.

Pavel Zacha and Nikita Zadorov both missed practice on Wednesday. Sacco explained that Zacha had a maintenance day but is expected to play Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks. Zadorov was excused to handle a family matter, and his status for Thursday’s game remains uncertain.
