Walker White is gearing up for a highly anticipated showdown against his former team to kick off the 2025 season, and he’s got a bold goal in mind: “I’m planning on giving Auburn their first loss of the season,” White said during a recent interview with Locked on Baylor. The former Auburn quarterback, who transferred to Baylor in December, will face the Tigers in the season opener on August 30 in Waco. White is pumped about the opportunity to go head-to-head with his old team and make a statement in his first season with the Bears.
White’s departure from Auburn was a notable one, as he had been a highly sought-after recruit for head coach Hugh Freeze’s staff. Coming out of Little Rock, Arkansas, White was ranked as a 4-star prospect, the No. 3 player in the state, No. 8 quarterback, and the No. 107 overall recruit in the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His impressive list of offers included powerhouse programs like Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Miami, and Texas A&M, but White ultimately chose Auburn to continue his football journey.
During his brief time at Auburn, White only saw action in the game against ULM, where he completed 2-of-5 passes for 18 yards and added another 18 yards rushing. Since he appeared in fewer than four games, White will be redshirting this season at Baylor, retaining four years of eligibility. His move to Baylor comes with a lot of potential, and he’s eager to make an immediate impact on his new team.
As the Bears prepare for the season opener against Auburn, White’s excitement is clear. He is determined to help Baylor start the season strong, and he’s particularly motivated by the chance to face off against his former program. Whether it’s through helping his new team prepare for the game or contributing directly on the field, White has made it clear he’s ready to take on the challenge and make his mark against Auburn.
The upcoming matchup between Baylor and Auburn is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing games of the opening weekend. With White’s high level of motivation and his talent at quarterback, all eyes will be on Waco to see how the former Auburn recruit fares against his old team in what promises to be a thrilling season opener.
