Earlier this week, I explored four potential trade scenarios that could solidify the New York Yankees as the frontrunners in the ultra-competitive American League East. One of the most intriguing proposals involved a blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers centered around once-promising prospect Bobby Miller.
Here’s the hypothetical trade:
•Yankees receive: RHP Bobby Miller
•Dodgers receive: OF Everson Pereira, LHP Brock Selvidge
The Dodgers appear ready to move on from Miller, who was once considered one of their top arms. Despite injuries depleting their current rotation, Miller hasn’t been given a shot to return to the majors this season — a clear sign his stock has fallen in L.A.
From the Dodgers’ side, adding a power-hitting, MLB-ready outfielder like Pereira could fill a need in their lineup, while Selvidge would inject some depth into their farm system.
For the Yankees, Miller could be a game-changer. With Marcus Stroman struggling and Carlos Carrasco past his prime, Miller would represent a significant upgrade — even if he’s not at his peak. At his best, he has the stuff to elevate New York from playoff hopeful to legitimate AL powerhouse.
While the Dodgers may hesitate to deal from their pitching pool — especially with Shohei Ohtani not yet pitching — if they were to move one of their young arms, Miller seems the most likely candidate. And the Yankees could be the ideal destination.
