The Baltimore Orioles have reached a one-year, $10 million agreement with reliever Andrew Kittredge, as reported by a source familiar with the deal. The agreement, which has not yet been officially announced, includes a $9 million salary for the current year and a $9 million team option for 2026, along with a $1 million buyout.
Kittredge, a 34-year-old right-handed pitcher, posted a 5-5 record with a 2.80 ERA and one save last season with the St. Louis Cardinals. He struck out 67 batters and walked 20 in 70 2/3 innings. Before joining the Cardinals, Kittredge spent seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, accumulating a 23-12 career record with a 3.44 ERA across 240 relief appearances and 15 starts.
Baltimore’s bullpen could get a significant lift with the return of closer Félix Bautista, who missed last season following Tommy John surgery. Although the Orioles signed Craig Kimbrel to fill in as closer, he struggled and was released before the season ended.
Kittredge now provides another reliable arm for late-game situations. While his groundball rate has decreased in recent years, the changes to Camden Yards’ left-field wall for 2025 could play in his favor.
The Orioles have been active in the offseason but not overly aggressive, adding players like Charlie Morton, Gary Sánchez, Tomoyuki Sugano, and now Kittredge on one-year deals. Despite the loss of ace starter Corbin Burnes to free agency, Baltimore has made a notable commitment to outfielder Tyler O’Neill with a three-year contract that includes a player opt-out after 2025.
