The Louisville football team is welcoming back one of their top offensive players for their final home game of the season against Pitt.
Freshman running back Isaac Brown, who has been a standout this year, is available to play today, the school confirmed before kickoff.
Brown injured his shoulder during the first quarter of Louisville’s 38-35 loss to Stanford last weekend. He was later seen in the second half with his right arm in a sling and had to leave the game. Earlier this week, head coach Jeff Brohm expressed uncertainty about Brown’s status for today’s game.
“We’ll see how he progresses this week with his shoulder,” Brohm said on Monday. “We’re hopeful he can play, but I don’t know yet.”
Brown has quickly made a name for himself in 2024, putting together a season that could earn him Freshman All-American honors. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back has racked up 803 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 108 carries, plus 26 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown.
His 7.4 yards per carry leads the ACC and ranks first among Power Four running backs with 100 or more carries.
When Brown committed to Louisville in August 2022, he was ranked as high as the No. 8 running back in the country and the No. 120 overall prospect by ESPN. By the time the 2024 class rankings were finalized, he was ranked No. 524 by the 247Sports Composite.
Brown had an outstanding senior season at Homestead (Fla.) High School. In just eight games, he ran for 1,084 yards with a 10.4-yard average per carry, and caught 16 passes for 260 yards. As a junior in 2023, he rushed for 650 yards and 10 touchdowns while also adding 450 yards and six touchdowns through the air.
