On Sunday, the Giants made a bold move they hope will change that narrative, trading back into the late first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick. After the pick, Daboll was quick to clarify the current pecking order at the quarterback position.

With the team finally moving on from the struggling Daniel Jones and also parting ways with Drew Lock, the Giants essentially hit the reset button on their quarterback room. In the offseason, they added veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to provide stability and experience, but it was clear a long-term answer was still needed.

Despite holding the No. 3 overall pick, the Giants passed on the top quarterbacks and selected Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter. Later, they packaged picks No. 34 and 99 from this year, along with a 2026 third-rounder, to move up and grab Dart at No. 25—passing on other QB prospects like Shedeur Sanders in the process.

The Giants are banking on Dart’s potential, though he won’t be stepping in as the starter immediately. As the team heads into spring practices, veteran Russell Wilson will open OTAs as QB1. Still, it’s fair to wonder: how long will he hold onto that job if Dart starts turning heads?
