BOMBSHELL TRADE RUMOR! Yankees and Mets on Brink of SHOCKING Marcus Stroman Deal That Will CHANGE EVERYTHING!

A recent trade rumor involving the New York Yankees could pave the way for a rare swap with the New York Mets, where both teams exchange struggling players to address their offseason needs. Both the Yankees and Mets have had productive offseasons so far. The Mets grabbed headlines by signing Yankees star Juan Soto to a record-breaking $765 million deal, but the Yankees quickly responded with significant moves of their own

The Yankees strengthened their pitching staff with All-Star arms Max Fried and Devin Williams, while also addressing their outfield and first base needs by acquiring former NL MVPs Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt. Now, however, a recent report suggests that the team is considering a move focused on getting rid of a player. After a disappointing first season with the team, the Yankees are reportedly looking to trade starting pitcher Marcus Stroman. According to New York Post MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Yankees are even open to covering some of Stroman’s remaining salary in order to facilitate the trade. The team is hoping to use the money freed up to acquire an infielder, particularly someone who can play second or third base.

One potential trade partner could be the Mets, who are reportedly seeking additional pitching depth. Stroman, with a 2024 record of 10-9, a 4.31 ERA, and 113 strikeouts over 154.2 innings, might fit the bill for the Mets’ rotation.

Similar to the Yankees’ situation with Stroman, the Mets have been rumored to be willing to move on from two-time All-Star Jeff McNeil, especially with several promising prospects waiting for a chance at his position. McNeil, who can play second, third, or left field, could provide the Yankees with the flexibility they need in the infield. With the Mets seeking pitching help, a swap between Stroman and McNeil could be a potential solution. McNeil, coming off a 2024 season with a .238 batting average, 12 home runs, and 44 RBIs, could fill the Yankees’ need at second or third base. His contract, which pays him $15.7 million over the next two years, is manageable, especially if the Mets agree to take on all of Stroman’s $18 million for 2025.

The key question is whether Mets president David Stearns sees value in bringing back Stroman, who previously pitched for the Mets. As a potential fourth or fifth starter, Stroman could still have a year or two left in the tank. He also has a vesting option for 2026 if he pitches 140 innings, making him a relatively low-risk option. However, if his performance remains similar to his 2024 season, the Mets might be hesitant to take on the risk.
