Breaking; Gamecocks Set to Shock the Wildcats? Massive Opportunity Awaits vs. Kentucky!

The South Carolina Gamecocks have a huge chance to make some noise this weekend when they face the Kentucky Wildcats.

After picking up their first conference series win of the season against Ole Miss last weekend, the Gamecocks are now aiming to secure another series victory — this time on the road against Kentucky.

Brandon Stone (Sophomore, RHP) is projected to start Friday’s opener for South Carolina. Stone currently holds a 2-4 record with a 4.93 ERA across 42 innings, with 8 walks and 36 strikeouts. For Kentucky, freshman right-hander Nate Harris is expected to get the ball. He carries a 3-2 record, a 4.67 ERA in 34.2 innings pitched, along with 14 walks and 24 strikeouts.

Scouting the Wildcats:

  • Kentucky is coming off a dominant 17-5 win over Louisville in a seven-inning game on Tuesday night. Patrick Herrera starred with five RBIs, while Ethan Walker struck out six batters over four innings.
  • Herrera leads Kentucky at the plate with a .328 batting average, and Cole Hage tops the team with nine home runs.
  • On the mound, Ben Cleaver has been a standout, posting a 4-2 record with a 2.83 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 54 innings.
  • Head coach Nick Mingione is in his ninth season at Kentucky and led the Wildcats to a College World Series appearance last year.

First pitch for Friday’s game is scheduled for 6:30 PM ET and will be streamed on SEC Network+. Saturday’s game will begin at 4:30 PM ET.
