HOT-NEWS: Vikings Hit With Fierce Backlash Over 2025 NFL Draft Class

The Minnesota Vikings are facing criticism after their recent NFL draft, which likely won’t be remembered as a standout moment in the franchise’s history.

With only five draft picks — one in the fifth round and two in the sixth — the Vikings weren’t able to address all their needs. Notably, the team did not select any defensive backs, despite losing three of their five starters in the secondary earlier in the offseason.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic gave the Vikings the lowest draft ranking in the league, placing them 32nd overall, but he did offer some context. “With just five picks (one in the top 100), the Vikings were always going to rank low,” Brugler wrote on April 27.

  • Minnesota Vikings select Episcopal alum Donovan Jackson with 24th overall pick in 2025 NFL Draft
  • Donovan Jackson

I saw Donovan Jackson as more of a second-round talent than a first-rounder, but he has the potential to become a long-term starter if he improves his sustain-and-recovery issues. Minnesota clearly focused on enhancing the interior of its offensive line, and Jackson can contribute to that effort.”

Many analysts had expected the Vikings to select a top cornerback with their 24th overall pick, hoping they would bolster the secondary. Instead, Minnesota chose Jackson from Ohio State, continuing their focus on improving the offensive line, adding him alongside new free-agent signings Will Fries and Ryan Kelly from the Indianapolis Colts.
