Just two days after the Atlanta Braves claimed reliever Ian Anderson off waivers, the team has already designated him for assignment, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Anderson didn’t pitch in any games during his brief return to Atlanta.
His recent journey has been turbulent: after failing to make the Braves’ roster out of spring training, he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels for José Suarez. Anderson pitched in seven games for the Angels before being designated for assignment last week, prompting the Braves to claim him — only to let him go again shortly after.

This feels like home,” Anderson said of rejoining the Braves, according to Owen Perkins of MLB.com. “I was with these guys in Spring Training, so there’s a lot of familiarity. I’m just trying to build on the positives I’ve had this year and get back on track.”
During his short stint with the Angels — his first Major League action since 2022 — Anderson gave up 13 runs over 9.1 innings, with seven walks and two home runs.
