JUST-IN; Huge Miss For The Wildcats: Kentucky’s Transfer Portal Hot Streak Comes To A Halt As Key Target Commits to SEC Rival LSU!

The Kentucky Wildcats have been making strong moves in the transfer portal recently, but they’ve hit a snag with one key target who has committed to another SEC school.

This past weekend, Kentucky hosted brothers Trevion Cooley and Tamarcus Cooley for a visit, with high hopes of bringing both players on board for the upcoming season. Tamarcus, in particular, was a priority for Kentucky. The standout safety from NC State, who also has experience as a slot cornerback, was viewed as a key addition to bolster the Wildcats’ secondary. However, Tamarcus has ultimately chosen to sign with the LSU Tigers, marking a disappointing miss for Kentucky.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, Tamarcus has earned a reputation for his football IQ, coverage abilities, and physical, hard-hitting style of play.

Over two years, split between Maryland and NC State, he accumulated 43 tackles, three tackles for loss, and three interceptions in just 17 games. His impressive performances were also reflected in his advanced metrics, with Pro Football Focus (PFF) giving him an 80.8 defensive grade and an 81.8 coverage grade for the 2024 season.

With Tamarcus now off the board, Kentucky will have to shift its focus elsewhere in search of help for their secondary. Meanwhile, Trevion, his younger brother, has yet to make a decision on where he will continue his college career, leaving his recruitment still up in the air for now.
