Yankees Panic? Anthony Volpe Reveals Scary Shoulder ‘Pop’ Injury Update

The New York Yankees may have dodged a major injury scare with shortstop Anthony Volpe, who experienced a concerning moment during the eighth inning of Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. While diving for a ground ball hit by Christopher Morel, Volpe felt a pop in his shoulder after landing on the turf.

Though he wasn’t able to make the play, Volpe remained in the game and showed no immediate signs of serious damage, even managing to move his shoulder without significant pain. While a popping sound often raises concerns about a possible dislocation, early signs were encouraging. Postgame X-rays revealed no structural damage, though additional testing is expected on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Volpe admitted the sensation was unsettling: “I’ve never had anything pop or dislocate before, so there’s really nothing to compare it to. It was scary, but it feels okay now. All the movements feel good—it was just a strange feeling.”

The Yankees fell to the Rays 3-2 at Yankee Stadium.
