INSIDER-NEWS: Yankees’ Power Hitter Shockingly Floated in Trade Rumors by Insider

The New York Yankees, currently one of MLB’s top teams, are expected to make roster upgrades before the trade deadline. Surprisingly, MLB insider Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report listed first baseman Paul Goldschmidt as a potential trade candidate — despite his strong performance.

Miller emphasized that there’s “no chance” the Yankees would move Goldschmidt right now, noting his importance behind Aaron Judge in the lineup. However, he suggested that if a few things align, including Goldschmidt maintaining his hot bat, the team could consider flipping him for much-needed starting pitching.

Goldschmidt, 37, has been a force, batting .353 with 3 homers and 17 RBIs as of May 5. He’s on a one-year, $12.5 million deal.

Another factor that could influence a trade is the return of Giancarlo Stanton and the emergence of Ben Rice. If Rice continues hitting well and Stanton regains form at DH, the Yankees might not have room to start all three hitters consistently. That scenario could make Goldschmidt expendable, Miller suggested.

Still, with Stanton’s injury history and Rice’s limited MLB experience, the Yankees may decide to keep Goldschmidt for depth. The seven-time All-Star and former NL MVP remains a reliable option at first base or DH.

As for Stanton, he’s progressing in his rehab and is set to face live pitching soon, offering hope for a return in the near future.
