Wednesday was the biggest day of the year for NFL social media teams, as the league’s schedule release allowed them to unleash their most creative—and sometimes outrageous—content. What’s usually off-limits became fair game, including jabs at players, coaches, and even celebrity fans. Going viral was the mission, and the New York Giants were all in with their own spin, creating a schedule reveal video styled after the reality show Love Island.
In the video, each NFL team was represented by a character with jokes tailored to them. The Dallas Cowboys were mocked through a washed-up cheerleader, and the Kansas City Chiefs were represented by a Taylor Swift lookalike obsessed with zebras—a cheeky nod to Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce and NFL referees.
One skit that drew attention featured the Washington Commanders. The character playing them acted confused about their identity, saying, “You can call me Bob, Robert, Bobby, it’s OK.” The joke highlighted Washington’s history of name changes—from the Redskins to the Football Team to the Commanders—and implied another change wouldn’t be surprising.
The Giants even took a playful dig at Washington’s new star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, by referencing his mom. “Yeah, don’t tell my mom I’m here, OK?” the actor quipped, alluding to Daniels’ reputation for having an overprotective mother who’s been vocal about his personal life and frequently appears at events with him. It’s a minor detail, but just enough for the Giants to poke fun at.
New York and Washington will face off in Week 1 and again in Week 15 after the Giants’ bye. Washington swept the series last year, with the first matchup marked by a key special teams injury that hurt the Giants’ chances.
Daniels was the runaway winner of the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. But in their 2025 rematch, it might be Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart looking to make his own statement. Either way, with a stronger roster, New York should put up more of a fight this season.
