The Boston Red Sox are in a fortunate yet challenging spot: they have a wealth of MLB-ready prospects, but not enough openings in the lineup to provide consistent playing time for their continued development.
Their highly touted trio — outfielder Roman Anthony, shortstop Marcelo Mayer, and second baseman Kristian Campbell — represents a promising foundation for the franchise’s future. However, only Campbell has cracked the Major League roster so far. Anthony, Boston’s top prospect, and Mayer, ranked No. 2, remain in Triple-A, waiting for their opportunity. While the team hasn’t yet promoted either to the majors, they did recently move their fifth-ranked prospect, outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia, up from Double-A to Triple-A, according to Matt Dolloff of 98.5 The Sports Hub.
