Yankees Rookie Jasson Dominguez Makes MLB History with Incredible May Power Surge
New York Yankees rookie outfielder Jasson Dominguez has turned heads in May, delivering one of the most unique power displays in Major League Baseball history. According to OptaSTATS, Dominguez is the first player ever to hit a three-homer game, go deep from both sides of the plate, launch a grand slam, and crush a walk-off homer — all in the same calendar month.
Dominguez checked off three of those milestones in a single game on May 9 against the Oakland A’s. Batting left-handed, he opened the show with a 398-foot blast to right-center. Later, hitting right-handed, he demolished a 431-foot shot to left-center, measured at a scorching 111.9 mph off the bat. Then, just two at-bats later, he smashed a grand slam from the left side — his third homer of the game.
The final piece of history came on Wednesday night, when Dominguez delivered his first career walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth, lifting the Yankees to a dramatic 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers. New York had trailed 3-1 late, but a rally across the final three innings set the stage for Dominguez to play hero.
After a sluggish start to the season — hitting just .228 through March and April — Dominguez has caught fire in May. In 15 games, he’s batting .250/.362/.542 with 4 homers, 10 RBIs, and a .904 OPS.
The 21-year-old switch-hitter was limited to just 26 MLB games over the last two seasons. After a red-hot debut in 2023 where he hit four homers in eight games, Dominguez suffered a torn UCL and underwent Tommy John surgery. He later missed additional time in 2024 with an oblique strain.
Now healthy and finally getting consistent playing time, Dominguez is showing exactly why he’s been one of the Yankees’ most hyped prospects in recent memory — and rewriting the record books while doing it.
