MAJOR-BREAKING; Trade Alert: Giants’ QB Shuffle Heating Up As Top NFL Analyst Says Giants Should Cut Loose Of This Quarterback Immediately

At the start of the offseason, the New York Giants’ quarterback situation was wide open. There was no clear frontrunner for the starting job heading into 2025, and it seemed like any capable signal-caller could have a shot.

That quickly changed when general manager Joe Schoen got to work—signing veteran Russell Wilson to a one-year deal and inking Jameis Winston to a two-year contract. With Tommy DeVito also returning, the Giants appeared to have their short-term quarterback room locked in.

But things shifted again during the 2025 NFL Draft, when the Giants made a bold move—trading up to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick in the first round. While it’s common for teams to carry four quarterbacks into training camp, they typically include at least one raw or developmental player with limited experience.

In the Giants’ case, they now have a unique mix: a Super Bowl champion (Wilson), a former No. 1 overall pick (Winston), a first-round rookie (Dart), and a local fan-favorite (DeVito). That’s an unusually stacked QB room—and maybe too stacked, according to Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton.

Moton suggests the Giants might be wise to consider trading Jameis Winston, who now finds himself in a crowded field with little chance to start. The move could make sense: New York would still have Wilson as a high-floor veteran and Dart as a high-ceiling prospect, with DeVito as a low-cost developmental option.

Trading Winston could also benefit him, giving the well-respected veteran a chance to compete elsewhere rather than remaining a permanent backup in New York. Plus, it would allow the Giants to regain some draft capital and reduce the logjam at quarterback.

What once seemed like a desperate search for a signal-caller has become a position of strength—and now, the Giants may be in the perfect spot to deal from that strength.
