BREAKING: Vikings Lock Down GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah To Multi-Year Extension After Major Roster Overhaul — You Won’t Believe What He’s Built

Vikings Extend GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah with Multi-Year Deal

The Minnesota Vikings announced on Friday that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has signed a multi-year contract extension. Hired ahead of the 2022 season to succeed Rick Spielman, Adofo-Mensah has helped guide the team to a 34-17 record over three seasons, including two playoff berths and an NFC North title.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the extension was finalized Thursday night. Adofo-Mensah had been entering the final year of his original deal.

The extension follows a similar move earlier this offseason when the team locked in head coach Kevin O’Connell to a long-term contract. The duo has been credited with reshaping the team since taking over after the 2021 season.

Statements from the Organization

Team owner and president Mark Wilf praised Adofo-Mensah’s leadership and vision:
“Kwesi’s leadership, vision and collaboration with our coaching staff has positioned the Minnesota Vikings for sustained success. We’re confident that with him and Coach O’Connell at the helm, the Vikings will continue to compete for a championship.”

Adofo-Mensah expressed excitement about continuing his role:
“This organization means everything to me, and I truly believe in what we’re building. From ownership to staff, there’s a clear commitment to creating a championship-caliber culture. I’m thankful for the trust placed in me and eager to continue leading this operation with Coach O’Connell.”

Adofo-Mensah’s Impact

Since taking over, Adofo-Mensah has made several bold roster moves. Notable additions include quarterback Sam Darnold—who had a career-best season in 2024—as well as key defensive signings like Blake Cashman, Jonathan Greenard, and Andrew Van Ginkel. He also brought in running back Aaron Jones to replace Dalvin Cook and made a midseason trade for tight end T.J. Hockenson.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, he traded up to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who the team views as its long-term answer at the position. Adofo-Mensah also secured wide receiver Justin Jefferson to a record-setting contract extension, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history at the time.

Looking Ahead

The Vikings are currently in the midst of organized team activities (OTAs) with full player participation. With their leadership team now secured for the foreseeable future, the franchise is focused on building a consistent playoff contender.
