On one hand, the 2025 New York Giants almost have to improve — because, frankly, it’s hard to imagine them being any worse than they were last season.
On the other hand, GM Joe Schoen only made one significant change to the offense — and if that move doesn’t pay off?
His job could be on the line.
The headline moves this offseason were signing veteran QB Russell Wilson and trading up in the first round to draft Jaxson Dart, who’s expected to be Wilson’s successor. Yes, on defense the Giants brought in standout linebacker Abdul Carter, upgraded the secondary with two reliable starters, and drafted tackle Darius Alexander in the third round.
But none of that will erase the lingering fallout from the failed Daniel Jones experiment — especially now that the Giants’ offensive lineup will return 10 of the same starters, swapping only the quarterback.
In other words: Schoen is betting that Daniel Jones was the main reason for the offense’s struggles — and that Russell Wilson can turn things around.
It’s a risky wager.
There’s a real possibility that this offense could fall short again, even with modest expectations. That’s why many are already speculating about when, not if, Dart will take over.
And here’s the twist: teams that start rookie quarterbacks often give their GMs more leash, with the classic “we need time to develop him” excuse.
But Giants ownership, already unsure about Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll heading into this year, may not be so patient.
