Breaking-News: Is This the Giants’ Next Defensive Game-Changer? Experts Say This $45 Million Signing Is a “Budding Star and can Provide Leadership and Big-Play Ability” You Can’t Ignore!

Is Jevon Holland a rising star? The New York Giants are certainly hoping so.

ESPN analyst and former Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty recently weighed in, offering high praise for the Giants’ new defensive addition. Having won a Super Bowl with the Giants in 2011, Canty knows what it takes for a defense to reach elite status.

On the “Breaking Big Blue” podcast, Canty described Holland as a “budding star in this league at the safety position.”

While Holland hasn’t yet put up standout stats, Canty believes his skill set fits perfectly with what’s demanded from today’s defensive backs. Despite an inconsistent 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins, Holland has shown the ability to make plays in multiple ways.

Jevon Holland is worth more than just production to Giants

I think he can impact the game on all three levels,” Canty said. “He can blitz and pressure the quarterback, and he’s not a liability in coverage like many other safeties.”

A former Oregon Ducks standout, Holland is a natural playmaker, and Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen should be thrilled to have him in the secondary.

Over four NFL seasons, Holland has accumulated five interceptions, 16 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and five sacks.

Paired with rookie Tyler Nubin—who recorded 98 tackles and four tackles for loss in 2024—Holland could form a dynamic safety duo.

What makes Holland especially valuable is his versatility. He can cover ground in space and also defend effectively against the run, boosting the overall potential of the Giants’ secondary.

Holland brings the leadership and athleticism the Giants’ defense desperately needs and could be a key factor as New York competes in a tough NFC East.
