Breaking-News: Stunning Twist As Ex- Giants Veteran Set to Take Over as Colts’ Starting QB After Shocking Injury!

The Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback picture appears to be coming into focus — and surprisingly, former New York Giants QB Daniel Jones looks like the likely starter.

But it’s not how anyone envisioned.

The Colts’ presumed starter, Anthony Richardson, suffered a sprained AC joint during OTAs on Thursday — the same injury that prematurely ended his rookie season. With Richardson sidelined, Jones may now get the nod by default.

Jones signed with the Colts this offseason after a brief stint with the Minnesota Vikings, and the plan had been for him to compete with Richardson for the starting role. While Jones had an underwhelming run with the Giants, Richardson’s 2023 performance was among the league’s worst, despite his raw athletic talent.

Richardson was selected fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, but has yet to live up to expectations. Now, with another injury setback, the door is wide open for Jones to seize the starting job.

Some have suggested that if Jones finds success in Indianapolis, it could reflect poorly on Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who was brought in to develop the quarterback but saw little progress after 2022. Whether team owner John Mara shares that sentiment remains unclear.

Jones was released by the Giants after a chaotic 2024 season that saw him benched mid-year. Following his release request, he now has a fresh opportunity — and all eyes will be on how he handles this new chapter with the Colts.
