JUST-IN: Yankees Poised to Snatch $313M Gold Glove Savior Superstar from Giants in Mouth Watering Deal.

Baseball Stunner: Giants Land $313M Star Rafael Devers — Is Matt Chapman Bronx-Bound?

In a move that sent shockwaves through MLB, the San Francisco Giants pulled off a blockbuster Sunday night, acquiring superstar Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox. The $313 million slugger now gets a fresh start in the Bay Area, stepping in as San Francisco’s new third baseman.

But Devers’ arrival has major ripple effects — and the biggest winner might not be San Francisco. It could be the New York Yankees.

With the trade deadline fast approaching, the Yankees have been actively hunting for a long-term infield fix. That answer may now be within reach — in the form of Giants third baseman Matt Chapman.

Chapman, currently sidelined with an injury, is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon. Before landing on the injured list, he was hitting .242 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI — solid numbers for the Gold Glove-winning veteran.

MLB Network may have just confirmed why Rafael Devers won't be traded

Normally, Chapman’s hefty contract ($151 million) and five-and-a-half years of team control would give San Francisco full leverage. But that changed the moment Devers arrived. Now, with two star third basemen on the roster, the Giants may have little choice but to trade Chapman — who’s unlikely to accept a backup role.

Unless Devers shifts to a full-time designated hitter, Chapman’s future in San Francisco looks murky.

That’s where the Yankees come in.

Still seeking an infield cornerstone, New York could pounce. Chapman, a defensive wizard with five Gold Gloves (plus two Platinums) and a Wilson Overall Defensive Player of the Year award, would give the Bronx a much-needed boost on both sides of the ball. His career .241 batting average and 119 OPS+ prove he can hold his own at the plate, too.

For GM Brian Cashman, this might be the perfect opportunity — a rare chance to land an elite two-way third baseman and finally shore up the Yankees’ infield for years to come.

The countdown to the deadline is on. And all eyes are on the Bronx.
