The New York Giants’ offensive line has long been a weak spot, but last season showed signs of improvement.
A key factor in that progress was finally settling the right tackle position.
The Giants brought in veteran Jermaine Eluemunor on a two-year deal last offseason, and he quickly brought much-needed stability after years of inconsistency.
Now entering the second and final year of his contract, Eluemunor has positioned himself as a vital piece of the Giants’ offense and could be in line for a contract extension.
In 2024, Eluemunor started 15 games—nine at right tackle and six at left tackle—showing his versatility. His strongest play came at right tackle, which is where the Giants plan to have him spend the entire 2025 season.
Last year’s injury to left tackle Andrew Thomas forced a reshuffle that saw Eluemunor shift to left tackle, where he performed admirably despite having prepared all offseason to play on the right side.
He finished the season with a 63.2 overall Pro Football Focus grade, surrendering 29 pressures and four sacks over 579 pass-block snaps, along with a 56.9 run-block grade. While solid, his performance dipped slightly after moving to left tackle.
With Thomas healthy in 2025, Eluemunor will return to right tackle and aim to secure a second contract with the Giants, potentially anchoring the line alongside Thomas.
It would be wise for the Giants to start extension talks soon, as another strong season could drive up Eluemunor’s value. Starting right tackles don’t come cheap, and with the offense expected to improve—especially with QB Russell Wilson joining—the Giants will want to lock him in.
Re-signing Eluemunor could also free up \$3.8 million in cap space for 2025, making it a financially savvy move.
As the season approaches, the Giants should prioritize negotiating with Eluemunor to keep their dependable right tackle for at least another year.
