In 2024, Malik Nabers was like a Ferrari parked in front of a crumbling house. Despite being a rookie, he quickly emerged as the focal point of the New York Giants’ offense and was one of the few bright spots on a struggling 3-14 team. Heading into 2025, Nabers remains the top receiving threat, but this time, the Giants have made moves to build a more complete roster around him.
New York bolstered its quarterback room and added defensive reinforcements, even bringing in an exciting new running back to pair with Tyrone Tracy Jr. However, they notably failed to add another wide receiver to lighten Nabers’ load in the passing game. That lack of support was reflected in Pro Football Focus’s recent ranking of all 32 NFL receiver groups, where the Giants landed at No. 24. Analyst Trevor Sikkema acknowledged Nabers isn’t the only part of the offense — but he clearly carries the bulk of it.
While Sikkema didn’t criticize the other receivers, the numbers tell the story. Nabers led the team with 1,204 receiving yards last year. The next closest was Wan’Dale Robinson with 699 yards, followed by Darius Slayton with 573. Giants fans are hoping that, in 2025, someone else in the receiver room can step up and take some pressure off their rising star.
Around the league, it’s become common for teams to field multiple 1,000-yard receivers — something the Giants are still lacking. With Russell Wilson now under center, the excuses about inconsistent quarterback play no longer hold as much weight.
If the Giants want their offense to evolve, they’ll need more than just Nabers making plays — the rest of the receiving corps must rise to the occasion in 2025.
