Major-News: Is This Brian Daboll’s Last Chance? Giants’ Bold Offseason Move Could Decide His Fate On If He Will Be Fired Or Hired

The New York Giants wrapped up a disappointing 2024 season, finishing at the bottom of the NFC East with a 3-14 record—an outcome that’s placed head coach Brian Daboll squarely on the hot seat.

In a recent offseason analysis, Gilberto Manzano named the Giants among his biggest offseason “winners,” suggesting that the team’s roster upgrades could give Daboll one more shot to silence critics in 2025.

“With Daniel Jones out of the picture—a QB Daboll inherited—the coaching staff now gets to develop first-round pick Jaxson Dart, who’ll begin training camp behind veteran Russell Wilson,” Manzano wrote. “If Dart flashes even a glimpse of what Drake Maye showed last season with a struggling team, that might be enough to buy Daboll another year.”

But if Dart fails to impress? Daboll’s fate could quickly shift from uncertain to unemployed.

Daboll made waves in his first year at the helm, winning NFL Coach of the Year in 2022 after leading an underwhelming Giants roster to the NFC Divisional Round. Since then, however, the team hasn’t returned to the postseason—though not all the blame lands on him.

While the failure of Daniel Jones casts a shadow, Daboll didn’t draft him. What he has had a hand in is building a new core, including helping to select Malik Nabers, who exploded onto the scene as one of the league’s top rookie wide receivers. Paired with defensive anchor Dexter Lawrence II, the Giants now have the foundation of a competitive team.

With key additions on both sides of the ball, 2025 could be Daboll’s make-or-break season—a chance to prove he’s still the right man for the job.
