Battery Power Braves Player of the Week: Grant Holmes
While Matt Olson enjoyed a solid week, Jurickson Profar made headlines by homering in his return from an 80-game PED suspension, and both Sean Murphy and Drake Baldwin hit well enough to finally share the lineup on Sunday, this week’s standout performance came from the mound.
Grant Holmes earns the title of Battery Power Braves Player of the Week, thanks to two impressive starts that gave Atlanta a fighting chance—despite the team coming up short both times.

Holmes, currently serving as a de facto ace in the Braves’ injury-plagued rotation, was dominant against the Los Angeles Angels. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and three walks, and struck out 10. The Braves couldn’t capitalize offensively, but Holmes delivered a gem.
Then on Sunday, he took the mound against the Orioles and once again gave Atlanta quality innings—six more frames, surrendering two earned runs on five hits and three walks, with five strikeouts. While not quite as sharp, Holmes still kept the Braves in the game, though he was tagged with the loss in a 2-1 heartbreaker.

A former first-round draft pick who didn’t make his MLB debut until last season, Holmes has rapidly climbed the ladder—from bullpen arm, to spot starter, to a reliable rotation piece, and now perhaps the most dependable starter on the roster.
So far in 2025, Holmes has started 18 of 19 appearances, racking up 118 strikeouts in 102 innings, with a 3.44 ERA and 3.71 xFIP, thanks in part to one of the most lethal collections of breaking pitches in the National League.
In what’s shaping up to be one of the Braves’ most disappointing seasons in over a decade, Holmes has been a rare bright spot—a steady presence in an otherwise unstable rotation.
