MAJOR-NEWS: Braves Refuse to Blow It Up Even as Season Spirals Out of Control As They Make Bold Trade Decision on Ronald Acuña Jr., Chris Sale and Others

As the Atlanta Braves’ postseason chances continue to dwindle, rumors are swirling about potential trade deadline activity involving some of their top talent. While big names like Ronald Acuña Jr., Chris Sale, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, Sean Murphy, and Matt Olson are all signed beyond this season—and would be highly valuable to contending teams—the Braves are not looking to tear things down just yet.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, Atlanta is open to moving players like DH Marcell Ozuna, reliever Raisel Iglesias, and a few others ahead of the trade deadline. However, they have no plans to deal any players signed to long-term contracts, at least not before the offseason.

Though Chris Sale is currently on the injured list and holds a club option for next year, GM Alex Anthopoulos has made it clear the team won’t be shopping him. The same goes for Ronald Acuña Jr., whose name has come up in speculation but has reportedly been taken off the table entirely.

Braves' Olson, Sale earn National League All-Star selections

Ronald Acuña Jr and Chris Sale,

As for Albies, Olson, Murphy, and Riley, each is under control for several more seasons and has been an All-Star—making them highly attractive assets. Still, the Braves are standing firm, insisting they won’t dismantle their core based on one disappointing season.

While Atlanta may be having an off year, they’re betting on a bounce-back in 2026 rather than pulling the plug now. That said, by refusing to even explore offers for players with less control or more immediate trade value, the Braves might be missing an opportunity to retool before future challenges mount.
