BIG-NEWS; Legacy Alert: From Undrafted to Unstoppable? Vikings Bring in Randy Moss’ Son for Rookie Tryout Just After Draft— Is History About to Repeat Itself?

The Minnesota Vikings are gearing up for their rookie minicamp beginning May 12, bringing in a group of promising undrafted players hoping to earn a roster spot. These tryouts offer an opportunity for unsigned talent to impress, much like Adam Thielen once did before becoming a Pro Bowler.

Among the invitees is University of Maine wide receiver Montigo Moss, the son of Hall of Famer and Vikings legend Randy Moss. His invitation was announced by Believe Sports Group on April 29. Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 220 pounds, Montigo isn’t known for elite speed—he clocked a 4.6-second 40-yard dash in high school—but he’s recognized for his precise route running and physicality, particularly in run blocking and special teams.

In 2024, Montigo had his strongest college season, recording 61 receptions for 722 yards and seven touchdowns at the FCS level. He’s one of Randy Moss’s eight children and has an older brother, Thaddeus Moss, who played with LSU and briefly joined NFL teams but never appeared in a regular season game.

Montigo Moss,

While the Vikings have historically kept a consistent group of depth receivers, there are more open spots this year. Montigo will compete alongside other undrafted wideouts like Robert Lewis (Auburn), Dontae Flemming (Tulane), and Silas Bolden (Texas), though those three are already under contract.

Competition for the lower end of the depth chart will also include third-round pick Tai Felton and veterans like Rondale Moore, Lucky Jackson, Jeshaun Jones, and Tim Jones. Top contributors Jordan Addison and Jalen Nailor are firmly established in the rotation.
